Meet Maya
Hi! I'm Maya, the founder and teacher at Grand Keys Piano.
I've been playing piano since I was four, and I'm currently working through RCM Level 5. I've completed three piano exams, participated in CML 2026, and I'm currently preparing for my fourth exam. I enjoy playing almost every kind of music, although jazz and I have decided to respectfully keep our distance.
What I love most about piano is how much you can do with it. A piece can sound simple when it's sung or played somewhere else, but at the piano, you can turn it into something fuller, more expressive, and completely your own.
I'm 12 years old, and I think that's important for parents to know. I'm still young, but I've also been learning piano for most of my life, and I've developed a strong ear for music and good sight-reading skills.
I chose to teach students ages 5 to 9 because I remember being that age myself. They're at a great stage for learning the basics, exploring music, and discovering what they can do.
For now, lessons take place in my den while Grand Keys Piano gets started. My goal is to eventually move into a dedicated studio as the business grows.
Most importantly, I want my students to experience the same joy I feel when I play. Piano should be about more than getting every note right, it should be about discovering that “Wait... I actually made that!” feeling.
And that's what Grand Keys Piano is all about.

Absolutely. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay if their child would feel more comfortable with them there.
