Welcome to Grand Keys!

We're so glad you're here! Whether you're brand new to piano or you've been playing for a while, this page is here to help you get started.

What to Expect at Your First Lesson

Never played piano before? That's completely okay! Your first lesson is all about getting comfortable, getting to know the piano, and having some fun.

We'll take things one step at a time, and I'll make sure you understand what we're doing before we move on. No piano experience required—just bring yourself, your curiosity, and maybe a little bit of courage.

What to Bring

You don't need to bring a whole suitcase to your lesson! Just bring your music, a pencil, and yourself.

If there's something you're confused about, stuck on, or just really proud of, bring that too! Lessons are for learning, asking questions, and making progress.

Before Your Lesson

Try to arrive a few minutes early so you have time to get settled before your lesson begins. There's no need to rush in like you're being chased by a metronome! If you are a bit late, though, don't worry!

If you haven't practiced as much as you wanted to, don't worry. Just be honest with me! We'll figure out what happened, work through anything that's tricky, and make a plan for the next week.

Practice Corner

Practicing doesn't have to mean sitting at the piano for an hour and playing the same thing over and over until your hands fall off!

Try breaking your practice into smaller pieces. Work on the parts that are tricky, slow things down when you need to, and don't forget to play the parts you already know!

And if you're stuck on something, that's okay! Bring it to your next lesson and we'll work through it together. Sometimes the piano just needs a little negotiating.

Grand Keys Goals

Everyone learns at their own pace, so your goals might look different from someone else's—and that's okay!

Maybe you want to learn your first song, get better at reading music, play for your family, prepare for an exam, or eventually tackle a piece that looks completely terrifying. Whatever your goal is, we'll work toward it together.

Most importantly, I want you to leave your lessons feeling proud of what you've learned and excited to keep playing.

Questions? I've Got Answers!

What if I've never played piano before?

That's completely okay! Everyone starts somewhere. We'll learn the basics together and take things one step at a time.

What if I make mistakes?

Then you're learning! Mistakes are a normal part of playing piano. Even professional musicians make them. The important part is figuring out what happened and trying again.

Do I have to practice?

Practice is important, but you don't have to spend hours at the piano every day. We'll work on making your practice time useful instead of making your hands fall off.

What if I don't like the song I'm learning?

Tell me! I want you to enjoy playing, and we'll always try to find music that you can have fun with while still learning new skills.

Your First Lesson

Never had a piano lesson before? No problem! Your first lesson is all about getting comfortable, getting to know the piano, and having some fun.

We'll learn a little about how the piano works, try some simple exercises, and start learning the basics of music. You don't need to know how to read music or play anything before you arrive.

And yes, you are allowed to make mistakes. In fact, you probably will! That's part of learning, and I'll be there to help you figure things out.

Most importantly, I want your first lesson to leave you thinking, "I want to do that again!" 🎵

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Grand Keys Piano! I know choosing a piano teacher for your child is a big decision, and I want you to feel comfortable asking questions before getting started.

Lessons are designed for students ages 5 to 9 and focus on building strong musical foundations while keeping piano enjoyable and encouraging. My goal isn't just to teach students how to play notes, but to help them become confident and curious musicians.

If you'd like to know more about lessons, scheduling, pricing, or anything else, please feel free to get in touch. I'm happy to answer any questions!

Ready to Get Started?

If you're ready to start your piano journey, I'd love to hear from you! Whether you're completely new to piano or you've already been playing for a while, we can work together to help you grow as a musician.

Have a question before getting started? That's completely okay too. There's no such thing as a silly piano question! Well... unless you ask me whether the piano has feelings. Then we may need to have a conversation.

Let's Talk!

Interested in lessons or have a question? I'd love to hear from you! A parent or guardian can send me an email and we can talk about lesson times, availability, and anything else you'd like to know.

Not sure if Grand Keys is the right fit? That's okay too! Feel free to reach out and ask questions before deciding.

Is there anything else I should know about your child before we start — how they learn best, anything that helps them feel comfortable, or any other details you think would be helpful? Feel free to mention it in an email or bring it up when we talk!

Looking for a Piano?

If you're just starting piano, you don't need the fanciest instrument in the world! A good piano that fits your home, your budget, and your student's needs is what matters most.

Digital pianos can be a great option for beginners, especially if space or noise is a concern. If you're looking at a digital piano, I recommend choosing one with weighted keys when possible, since they feel more like the keys on an acoustic piano. If you practice on a hollow keyboard at home, it may be harder to play with weighted keys.

Grand Keys Piano doesn't sell pianos, but there are plenty of places where families can try different instruments and find one that works for them.

Places to Explore

Grand Keys Piano doesn't sell instruments, but here are a few places you can explore when you're looking for a piano of your own.

If possible, try an instrument in person before buying. Different pianos can feel and sound very different, so finding one that feels comfortable is important!
